WEGO HealthTV Debut

“The human spirit is stronger than anything that can happen to it.”  -C.C. Scott

Here’s the link to the blood cancer channel – and to my “Food Portion Trick” on WEGO Health TV’s new health channel. Another bright idea to bring patients and caregivers together online.

Fantastic–please do more of these very helpful MM “spots” for the caregiver and the cancer patient. Being the only cook in my family, this info is so helpful for my hubby who gets easily overwhelmed concerning my nutrition and the impact of the chemo… I losted a lot of weight during the first SCT (loving the acronymys) and struggled decidng to go back/forward UAMS. So, I can confirm a little plate is so much better than a big one…and a lot of ice water helps to control the awful 24/7 taste. It’s great to get the taste buds back BTW…loving chocolate again…and adore your scarf I sawduring the presentation.

THANKS KAREN! Sometimes I forget that a seemingly small suggestion can make SUCH A DIFFERENCE!

I was excited to do it. I’ll be doing more for them. I think the site is overloaded with views, it’s been hard to access! 🙂 That’s a good sign. I think it’s quite brilliant actually. They did a great job in the editing, honing in on the meat of the matter in my presentation. 🙂

You so hit the nail on the head. Nutrition is an indicator, and we get so stressed about it, and it then stresses the patient and gets to be a vicious cycle. Poor Dave. When I asked him what he liked, he actually cried and said, “I DON’T KNOW!” It was such a struggle. But we worked through it and bit by bit the ice cream gave way to protein milkshakes and better nutrition overall. But it took a while and promises on both our parts to not take any of it personally, but to keep trying to find new things he could eat in portions that made him feel like he was successful. 🙂

LORI – WHAT A GREAT PRESENTATION! WHAT YOU LEARNED ABOUT FOOD PORTIONS WHILE CARING FOR DAVE IS REALLY VALUABLE INFO; FEEDING/EATING IS NOT JUST NUTRITION – IT’S AN EMOTIONALY LOADED ISSUE AS WELL. CG’S FEEL TREMENDOUS PRESSURE AND RESPONSIBILITY TO FEED THEIR LOVED ONES, AND OFTEN THE REFUSAL OR MEAGER INTAKE ON THE PART OF THE PT. SIGNALS A SENSE OF FAILURE AND DEEP ANXIETY FOR THE CG. YOUR IDEAS AND INSIGHTS HELP CREATE A WIN-WIN EXPERIENCE THAT HELPS MEAL TIME AND SNACKS BE MORE PALATABLE, AND CGS FEEL MORE REASSURED AND ENCOURAGED. YOU DID SUCH A GREAT JOB, AND WEGO IS SO LUCKY TO HAVE THE BENEFIT OF YOUR EXPERIENCE. CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR EXCELLENT DEBUT!
