Hamada

“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Susie Hemingway shared on her facebook page that one of her poems has been “selected to be published in an anthology – Midlands & The East – “The Gentleness Of Your Silence” written in 2010 will be kept at the British Library and further libraries across the UK and Republic of Ireland, providing a lasting record of this published work.”

Susie is a GIANT in the online Myeloma Community, as a caregiver to her beloved Hamada who passed away last year from Multiple Myeloma. It’s not so much in that she chronicled the science of Myeloma like so many have done. She simply demonstrates tremendous love, grace and strength in her life’s journey and one she shared for so many years with Hamada. Always kindly reaching out to so many of us sharing in this understanding.

Reading her poems are like sitting under a large, lone, tree in a field of flowers with a soft breeze blowing, where you can contemplate a moment in your life and try to find some perspective and balance.

She began writing beautiful love poems to help her through the difficulty of dealing with the ravages of this disease on the life she and Hamada shared. She reaches out gently to so many across the globe in their struggles with this disease.

Her poems were published in a book a couple of years ago and the proceeds of the sales goes to MM research. I’m very honored to have an autographed copy with a personal note from her in my library. It has been a very cherished possession for me.

I’m so happy for Susie to have one of her poems selected to be a part of this publication.

Congratulations Susie! And Thank You for all that you do for so many of us.

Susie is still writing over at A Power Within. I wish I could have met Hamada personally and it touched me deeply when Susie extended his heartfelt congratulations to our son, Hudson’s, academic accomplishments when he graduated from college last year.

One Response to ““The Gentleness of Your Silence””

  1. Sandy Banks says:

Susie is indeed a remarkable and gifted poetess and honors Hamada with her love for him; if only the world at large could learn how to love more! Susie is certainly there to teach it.
